Cardiovascular diseases are a leading cause of mortality and morbidity worldwide, and hypertension remains one of the most important risk factors for them.
The elevated blood pressure in systemic arterial hypertension is associated with a decline in endothelium-dependent vasodilation, resulting in an overall increase in vascular tone and resistance, the hallmark of the disease.
Preclinical services offered
- Drug screening in in vivo (rat, mouse) and ex vivo models
- Evaluation of compounds effects on blood pressure, vascular resistance, endothelial and smooth muscle cells function
Gold standard models of hypertension
Combined disease models: Hypertension with risk factors and co-morbidities such as hyperlipidemia, obesity and diabetes
Specific expertise in flow-induced dilation and pressure-induced constriction

We propose a wide range of techniques to deliver key end-points: Telemetry, Tail cuff, Isometric wire myography, Pressure myography (this physiological approach allows pressurization of small arteries such that they assume the conformational structure they would achieve in vivo) and Histology.
